Terms and conditions

Welcome to Glebe Markets. It is the responsibility of all stallholders to read these
terms and conditions carefully. When you make a booking then you do so on the
basis that you have read and accepted these terms and Conditions, which are
supplied to everyone applying for a stall. These Terms and Conditions include
operational matters that may change from time to time. The Manager will provide
14 days notice to stallholders about any changes to be made.

The Glebe Markets are held every Saturday, except for Christmas Day, in the
grounds of Glebe Public School , Glebe Point Road , Glebe. The market is managed
by Just Off Broadway P/L, ABN 46056 387387, and trades between 9am and 4pm.

Some definitions of terms:

The Market means Glebe Markets

The Manager means Just Off Broadway P/L, and its employees

Application Form means the form completed by the stallholder when
applying to the Manager for consent to Trade in the Market

We means the Market Manager

You means the stallholder

Stall site means the area within the market allocated by
the manager to a stallholder for the purposes
of Trade at the Market

Stallholder means a person or their agent, approved by the Manager, who has been granted consent by the Manager to trade at the Market

Regular stallholders are Stallholders who prepay for their stall sites in advance and have been allocated a specific stall site by the Manager that they can occupy on a week to week basis

Casual stallholders are stallholders who pay their fee on the market day before setting up and are allocated their stall site on the day of trading.

Trade at the Market means to occupy a stall site and engage in trading activities: to sell products or offer services for sale at Glebe Markets

The Manager will not permit a stallholder to Trade at the Market before to receiving a form fully completed by the Stallholder.

Stalls at Glebe Market

Stall sizes at Glebe Markets vary. The average stall size at Glebe Markets is 3m x 2m , but there are some stalls which are bigger.

All trading activity is to place within the boundaries of the stall. No goods are to be placed in the aisles which are public areas and stallholders are asked to ensure that all public areas are kept clear. All equipment (stall frames, umbrellas, racks, signs, tables, storage boxes) used by a stallholder must be contained within the stall boundaries, and erected safely.

Allocation of stall spaces is at the discretion of manager, and may change on a week to week basis. The manager has the right to ask that goods be removed from a stall in the interests of safety and legality of product.

Stall Fees as at 1 November, 2007

Stall fees are $65 for most sites, $85 for some Prime/Food sites

Table Hire is $10 per table. Tables are 1.83m x 1.03m ( 6ft by 3 ft ).

The failure by a stallholder to make a payment of stall fees is a breach of the regulations of Glebe markets and may result in the termination of access to a stall site at Glebe Markets by that stallholder.

In the events of a payment being made, resulting in a dishonoured cheque, a new cheque must be issued, and the bank dishonour fee paid by the stallholder.

Stall set up and Pack up times

Stall setup time is from 7am to 9am, and stall pack-up time is from 3pm to 5pm and from 4pm to 6pm (daylight saving time).

Stall products

Stallholders may sell products at the market according to the approval of the manager. Stallholders are not permitted to sell offensive, illegal or counterfeit goods at Glebe Markets. This includes copies of Designer products, live animals, any items associated with illegal drug use, weapons, or any manufactured goods which breach Australian standards. However, the market manager will be the arbiter of suitability of any product or service offered by a stallholder at the market.

Parking

After unloading, vehicles must be taken to Sydney University for all Day parking. No vehicles are to be left in the unloading areas all day. Stallholders must obey all parking and traffic directions given by market staff. The normal traffic rules apply on all public streets and stallholders should ensure that they follow these. There is to be no parking across the entrance to Derby place, and no blocking of Glebe Point Rd traffic.

The market manager reserves the right to refuse market access to any vehicle.

Wet Weather Policy

In the event of extreme weather, the market manager may make the decision on the morning of the market whether the market is to be cancelled or not.

In the event of showery weather the final decision is to be made by the individual stallholder whether to set up to trade for the day. The manager is not to be held responsible for any damage that may result from a stallholder's decision to trade in adverse weather.

The stallholder is responsible for providing adequate shelter for his/her product. If weather deteriorates during the day stallholders may decide to pack up and leave but they should inform the manager of this decision. Once a stall has been setup, then the stall fee is payable.

Food stalls.

Food stalls are restricted at Glebe Markets. Food stalls must meet all standards of preparation, service and cleanliness as directed by the NSW Department of Health. All power cords use must be tagged to show that they have been tested for safety. All food stallholders must be officially registered with the NSW Department of Health as a “One Day Food Stall” and produce documentation to this effect. They must also carry necessary Public and Product liability insurance and produce evidence of this to the market manager.

Waste management

Stallholders are responsible for taking home their own trade waste. (Cardboard/polystyrene /paper/plastic containers etc) Stall areas should be left at the conclusion of trade in a clean, “as was” condition.
