Information for stallholders
Glebe Markets is now one of the longest running markets in Sydney . It is situated in
Glebe and is very much an inner city market in style. It is a vibrant, lively place, where
stallholders can sell a wide range of products. Its inner city location, close to the CBD,
ensures a stream of customers. There is a growing interest in distinctive, innovative
and creative designs, particularly in clothing and accessories. It is also a great place
to trial a new product and establish a small business.
Frequently asked Questions
How much does a stall cost?
A stall site costs $70.
Tables are an additional
$10 each.
How big is a Stall site?
Most stalls are 3m x 1.5m, while a few are larger.
(Be aware that a 3m x 3m tent will not be practical in a 3m x 1.5m stall site)
If you rely on your tent for your set-up then don't bring one that doesn't fit our sizes.
When is the market open?
The Market is open every Saturday unless it coincides with Christmas Day.
This Christmas
Saturday does coincide with Christmas Day. So, we will all have a well earned break that day. However, we will be open the Saturday before Christmas and the Saturday after Christmas.
How do I book a Casual Stall?
There are two ways to get a stall:
Pre-paid stalls: Turn up at Glebe Markets and pre-pay and book for a stall on a future week. Demand for these stalls has meant that you are unlikely to get a stall earlier than 4-6 weeks ahead. This gives a guaranteed stall for the day you book. To pre-pay you do this at either 7-9am or 3-4pm at the market. On the day you have booked your pre-paid stall for you arrive at the Glebe Markets tent in Darby Place laneway (Glebe) at 7.30am to be served.
Stand-by stalls: This method doesn’t offer the same guarantee that pre-paying does, however, by just turning up and putting your name down for a Stand-By stall from 7am that Saturday morning you stand a very good likelihood of getting a stall on the day. Because this way of getting a stall is popular it may be wise to arrive earlier than 7am and lining up to get your stall.
- Cost: $65/stall. Tables $10 ea.
- Size of Stall: approx. 3m x 2m.
- Market Hours: 7am-4.30pm.
- Food stall enquiries must be directed to David personally to gain permission for a stall.
- No designer copies or fakes.
How do I get a Regular Stall?
A Regular Stall is a great advantage. Aside from an easier and more relaxed arrival each morning as you already have your own stall to go to, the main reason for having a regular stall is that your customers know where to find you and you can then build your repeat customer base. The regular stalls in Glebe Markets are called Monthly stalls. This name comes not from how often they come for their stall, but from how they pay their stall fees...monthly.
Monthly Stalls
This is your own regular fixed stall site. A Monthly Stallholder has the advantage of a fixed regular position, so customers can get to know where to find you. “Return purchasers” are very valuable assets. Monthly stallholders pay stall site fees monthly in advance. This means that because they know their stall site location there is no need to queue. Their stalls are held for them until 9 Am, after which the market management reserves the right to re-allocate their stall site.
Can I do a One Off Stall?
One off stalls are available every week.
Glebe Markets actively encourages One Off Garage Sale stalls because they add an element of fun. Shoppers love to rummage for bargains in these stalls. Follow the options for a Casual stall explained above.
What can I sell at Glebe Markets?
Most products are acceptable at Glebe Markets, although there are some particular exceptions.
- Products that may not be sold at Glebe Markets include live birds or animals, fakes or copies of designer brand names goods, weapons, items associated with the illegal use of drugs, or other items that the market management may consider unsuitable for the market. No offensive, counterfeit or unauthorised products may be sold.
- Food stall sites. These sites are under high demand at Glebe, and availability it restricted. You will need to discuss any potential food product with market management.
Where do I park?
- Gates open at 7am for unloading in Derby Place or from Derwent St (regular stallholders only)
- Follow the direction of market staff to unloading and check-in areas
- Once you stall is allocated, unload, then take your car to Sydney university for all day parking. You will be given a parking voucher for the day of the market only. Within the grounds of Sydney University obey all traffic/parking directions.
- Obey all normal traffic rules when accessing the market: do not double park, do illegal U-turns or obstruct the flow of traffic in Glebe Point Rd or Derby Place during set-up and pack-up times.
Do I need Public Liability Insurance?
The market does not provide Public Liability or product Liability Insurance for stallholders, so you will need to source your own insurance. While we highly recommend that all stallholders take out public liability insurance it is not a requirement for having a stall.

- Stalls will be allocated in booking order.
- Payment for your stall site is made at this time. $65 for a stall site, $10 extra per table

- Display the parking voucher, right side up, on the insdie of the windscreen of your vehicle-on the driver's side.
- Park according to Sydney University signs. Be sure your vehicle is parked legally.
- The parking voucher allows all day parking on the day of the market only. It also permits multiple entries and exits during the day should this be necessary.
What if it's wet?
- The good news is that Glebe Markets rarely closes: in fact the number of times it has been closed could be counted on one hand. The market is only closed during extreme weather conditions.
- Such decisions are made on the morning of the market, at the market, when management is able to see what the weather is actually like.
- Sydney weather varies from suburb to suburb and often when it is foul on the coast it is fine at Glebe, and a good day for trading
- Market management will be on site regardless of weather conditions to determine whether a market can be run (see Bureau of meteorology link)
