Sydney folk singer-songwriter Ally Palmer humbly declares an endless love for the ocean through her music, with catchy surf tunes that will make you wish you were road-tripping up and down the east coast of Australia
Her origins as a keyboardist, playing in a heap of different soul/blues/jazz bands around NSW and QLD inspired her to take center stage and write her own songs and pursue her original music.
Picture the long family surf trips escaping the city in search of the perfect wave and the stereo playing her now strongest influences: Van Morrison, Paul Kelly, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. However, Ally’s coastal-folk music could be compared to artists Jack Johnson and Angus and Julia Stone with a touch of soulful piano chords and bluesy riffs.
Lyrically, Ally Palmer takes you to the place you’d rather be - leaving the everyday grind and chasing the dream life by the sea.
Calling Sydney home and accompanied by Sam Besmehn-Burt on electric guitar, and Donovan Lee on drums, Ally regularly plays shows with her band in-between surf trips. Her music reflects her love of the ocean, surfing and the coastline that is held so close to her heart.
